The Science of Compassion 2014

The Science of Compassion 2014 is a gathering of leading experts in research on compassion, altruism, empathy, social connection and service to discuss their latest findings. The conference will explore the origins of compassion and compassionate action, how it can be measured, and how we can foster it through interventions.

While compassion is a fundamental part of every religious tradition, there is an ever enlarging body of scientific evidence that being compassionate has immense positive impact on the individual both in regard to their mental and physical health. This conference will highlight these scientific findings and provide a forum for researchers from around the world to collaborate with colleagues from a variety of disciplines. We at CCARE are very excited to sponsor the conference and contribute to this expanding field, says Dr. James Doty, director of CCARE.

Poster Submissions

Are you a faculty member, researcher, post-doctoral candidate, graduate or undergraduate student researching compassion, empathy, social connectedness or altruism? Submit an abstract of your work to present your work as part of a research Poster Presentation session on November 11. Click here to apply no later than August 15. Open to non-Stanford researchers. Compassion Week

CCARE is proud to present two back-to-back conferences this November: The Science of Compassion 2014 to be held in San Francisco immediately followed by the Compassion & Healthcare Conference in San Francisco, CA. These conferences are being held as a part of the Compassion week from November 10 – 16, that also includes a “Living Compassionately” retreat, the Tenzin Gyato Institute’s “Empathy and Compassion in Society” conference, and the Charter for Compassion Day.
