“WE THE FUTURE: Reimagining The Future of Global Mental Health, Leadership and Wellbeing by Unlocking Our Infinite Human Potential through AI, Neuroscience and ConsciousnesS”
I recently had the privilege of speaking about my work and the work of CCARE at the United Nations. At this conference sponsored by We The Planet in which the future of mental health, leadership, and wellbeing were discussed, several speakers shared their own mental health struggles and how groundbreaking programs were being implemented to impact those suffering around the world. The influence of artificial intelligence and neuroscience was emphasized as being critical to our global health now and in the future, as well as a recognition of the power of the mind.
Introduced by Kunal Sood, founder of We The Planet, who recently joined CCARE as Director of Compassionate Social Impact, each participant shared their dream to co-create a world where mental health was no longer stigmatized and both physical and mental health had the highest priority, recognizing that doing so would contribute to sustaining peace in the world. Sophie Gregoire Trudeau, wife of Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, headlined the event, sharing her struggles with mental health and her recently released book, Closer Together: Knowing Ourselves, Loving Each Other.
I was honored to present the work of CCARE which has created a number of mind training programs focused on self-compassion and the critical need for such skills in order to support one’s mental health in our modern society. I was also asked to share highlights of my recently released book, Mind Magic: The Neuroscience of Manifestation and How It Changes Everything. I emphasized how understanding the baggage we carry from childhood trauma impacts our actions as adults and the scientific reality that there is no outside influence necessary to change how we respond to the world; that power is within each of us.
I also gave an overview of the widespread impact stress, anxiety, and depression have on all of us, especially in adolescents and how this has been compounded by the pandemic. I reminded this gathered group of experts in Global Mental Health, Leadership, Science, AI, Entertainment, Media, Design, Governance, and Business, that there are not enough therapists available to treat the expanding population of those in need and how in many instances simply connecting with another can profoundly and positively shift our perceptions. I outlined the current apps available to assist with maintaining one’s mental health and the influence artificial intelligence is having in this area. I shared the work that I have been doing through Happi AI (happi.ai) in which we have combined an emotion assessment engine that analyzes voice, facial expression, and sentiment with a proprietary AI knowledge base of compassion-focused therapy, delivered by a human-like avatar, acting as a mental health companion. I shared some of the recent preliminary positive data related to its efficacy.
