In a world where each day more people are becoming familiar with technology and its social utilities, Stanford University is playing host to the first ever Compassion and Technology conference, which will bring social entrepreneurs, engineers and scientists together for discussion about technology designed to enhance compassion.
The conference is presented by the Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education (CCARE) in collaboration with Facebook, 1440 Foundation, HopeLab, and The Dalai Lama Foundation. The conference will include esteemed presenters and panelists including the Director of Engineering at Facebook, Arturo Bejar, President of Kiva, Premal Shah, and other notable social innovators and academics. It will also conclude a contest in which designers, innovators and engineers were invited to present their ideas on how a technology design and/or product would help people learn, practice, or improve one or more of the following qualities: compassion, empathy, social connectedness and altruism.
