CCARE will host a film screening of HUMAN, a film by Yann Arthus-Bertrand. Following the screening, there will be a brief discussion and Q&A. Only the introduction, discussion, and Q&A portions of the event will be recorded and NOT the film itself.

About HUMAN

HUMAN is a collection of stories and images of our world, offering an immersion to the core of what it means to be human. Through these stories full of love and happiness, as well as hatred and violence, HUMAN brings us face to face with the Other, making us reflect on our lives. From stories of everyday experiences to accounts of the most unbelievable lives, these poignant encounters share a rare sincerity and underline who we are – our darker side, but also what is most noble in us, and what is universal. Our Earth is shown at its most sublime through never-before-seen aerial images accompanied by soaring music, resulting in an ode to the beauty of the world, providing a moment to draw breath and for introspection.

HUMAN is a politically engaged work which allows us to embrace the human condition and to reflect on the meaning of our existence.

About Yann Arthus-Bertrand

Yann Arthus-Bertrand is a French photographer, journalist, reporter and environmentalist. He is the President of the GoodPlanet Foundation which he created in 2005. The GoodPlanet Foundation, a place of exception on the outskirts of Paris dedicated to ecology and humanism opened its doors to the public on May 13th and 14th 2017.

He started his career shooting lions in the Masai Mara Reserve in Kenya in the 1980’s whilst studying their behaviour. Upon his return to France, he released his first book “Lions” and created Altitude Agency, the world’s first press agency and bank of image specialized in aerial photography. In 1994 he started a thorough study on the state of the Earth sponsored by UNESCO. As part of the study, he made a picture inventory of the world’s most beautiful landscapes, taken from helicopters and hot-air balloons. 3 million copies of The Earth from Above book (‘ La Terre vue du ciel’) were sold. The book was translated into 24 languages.

Following this success, he took off again and released his first movie, “Home” produced by Luc Besson. “Home” has now been seen by 600 million people around the globe. Considered as an environmentalist as much as a photographer, he became a goodwill ambassador for the United Nation’s Environment Program in 2009.

In 2012, he started shooting his film “HUMAN” released in 2015. At the crossroads of “Home” and the “7 billion others” project , “HUMAN” is a mix of interviews of people of all conditions and backgrounds living in 45 different countries, and aerial images sought throughout the world.

Yann’s latest challenge is the shooting of his new film, WOMAN.

Registration is required for access to seating before the event starts. Non-registrants are still welcome to come. Any available seats will be offered on a first-come, first-serve basis once the event begins.

Location

The Clark Center Auditorium is located downstairs, underneath the Clark Center Courtyard (which is located in the center of the building). The room is accessible by the courtyard staircase found in the center courtyard or by the elevators in the East wing lobby of the Clark Center building.

Parking

The closest available parking structure is Roth Way Garage and is located across the street from Clark Center. Permits/visitor pay are not needed in most on-campus lots after 4PM on weekdays. Please check signs carefully.
