The Center for Compassion & Altruism Research & Education (CCARE) is honored to host “Caring Connections: Compassion, Technology and the Environment”, a talk presented by His Holiness the 17th Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje, followed by a dialogue with CCARE’s Founder and Director, Dr. James Doty.
About The Karmapa
His Holiness is head of the 900-year-old Karma Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism, guiding millions of Buddhists worldwide. At 14, he made a dramatic escape from Tibet and took refuge in India. Currently 29 years old, he is a globally recognized environmental leader, having created an eco-monastic movement with over 55 monasteries across the Himalayas. He announced that he will establish full ordination for women within his lineage. Through meditation training, he plays a key role in preserving Tibetan religion and culture. His latest book, titled The Heart is Noble: Changing the World from the Inside Out, is based on his interactions with American university students.
