
CCARE at Stanford University is seeking a steady, tech-savvy, and compassionate Online Learning Support Coordinator to support the smooth delivery of its online compassion programs. This part-time, remote position plays a vital role in the participant experience, serving as the steady hand behind the scenes during live Zoom class sessions. The ideal candidate is composed under pressure, highly proficient with Zoom’s full range of features, and comfortable supporting both participants and instructors in real time.
Online Learning Support Coordinator (Part-Time, Remote)
Hours: up to 20 hours per week
Location: Remote
Compensation: $37-40/hour. Salary commensurate with experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Instructor Collaboration
- Review manuals for weekly class sessions ahead of time
- Coordinate with the instructor before the quarter begins and before each session
- Partner with instructors to understand the goals and flow of each session, so technical and logistical support reinforces, rather than interrupts, the learning experience
- Check in with instructors before and after each class to flag participant needs, technical issues, or adjustments for future sessions
- Anticipate instructor needs during class and adapt support in real time as the session unfolds
- Share observations and participant feedback with instructors to help improve future sessions
- Build a collaborative, trusted working relationship with each instructor over the course of the program
- Communicate proactively with the instructors and Program Manager about any participant concerns
Live Class Facilitation
- Be on camera for the entire class session (1-5 hours at a time with breaks) with a calm demeanor, even when handling potentially stressful situations
- Manage the participant waiting room
- Sort participants into breakout rooms, ensuring everyone has a partner and adjusting timing as needed
- Keep time during breakout exercises and send broadcast messages at planned time markers
- Respond to chat messages in a timely manner throughout class
- Share slides and play videos at the correct times
- Provide general tech support to instructors
- Record sessions to the cloud, pausing and resuming recording as needed throughout class
Technical Support & Platform Expertise
- Provide tech support to participants who are struggling with Zoom or their camera/microphone
- Read Zoom development notes to stay current on platform changes
- Understand how the Zoom interface differs across mobile, tablet, Windows, and Apple devices in order to support participants across all use cases
- Develop best practices and protocols for facilitators and participants to make Zoom sessions seamless
- Support the setup and upkeep of the Canvas learning environment, including posting session materials and troubleshooting participant access issues
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 2 years of experience supporting or facilitating live virtual sessions, ideally in an educational or group program setting
- Advanced proficiency with Zoom, including breakout rooms, waiting rooms, cloud recording, and troubleshooting across devices and operating systems
- Calm, steady presence on camera, with the ability to stay composed during unexpected or sensitive moments
- Strong attention to detail and time management, especially while multitasking in real time
- Kind, patient approach to supporting participants who are less comfortable with technology or who may need an especially supportive touch
- Interest or experience in compassion, mindfulness, or wellness programs is a plus
