In this dialogue CCARE’s founder and director, Dr. James Doty, asks Kosta Grammatis about his life’s work and what role compassion may have played.
Kosta Grammatis is Founder of A Human Right, a non-profit that aims to bring Internet connection to every country around the world no matter how small or poor. Just three years after the foundation, the project has become a finalist in the $1 Million 2013 TED Prize. Before launching A Human Right, Kosta has been realising some of the most exciting engineering projects of today. In 2009, Kosta lead the Eyeborg Project as the Chief Engineer creating a bionic eye for a filmmaker missing one of his eyes with a dream of creating one that could capture what he sees. In 2010 the work was finished and tested with tremendous results. This idea went on to become the TIME’s Best Inventions. Previously, Kosta accounted the engineering position at SpaceX where he was working on designing a satellite. This satellite is now in space orbiting our wonderful planet.
